They're squeezed together in life as in death.
Sleeping on the freezing factory floors.
Memorial walls hold his family name.
He is walking in the footprints of those who have
SUFFERED DEFEAT.
"Of all the gin joints in this world,
I am born into this state of affairs."
Lived through a twelve hour working day
without thinking twice to support
HIS FAMILY.
He tried so hard just to fit in. (FIT IN)
No one helped him break this stalemate. (STALEMATE)
For all the nice things that he ever did,
nobody bought him a drink in the bar
or lent him a hand that would make him forget
that living his life made him carry the
WEIGHT OF THE WORLD.
He tried so hard just to fit in. (FIT IN)
No one helped him break this stalemate. (STALEMATE)
And this one will never be taught, taught in our history.
He sacrificed his life for the benefits of the likes
The likes of you and me.
"You get to pay for the things that you get".
It was by this rule that he learned to live.
He spent his life on his knees
so we can keep on living strong
with heads held high, standing up proud.

I love this album because is like fresh air and a punch in your face at the same time.
Great voice, great sound, great lyrics, the music make me feel that something new is really posible.
So what else?

The Minneapolis band add a horn section, a running surrealist allegory about walls, and an occasional nod to the elegiac to their electroshocked post-punk. Bandcamp Album of the Day Mar 4, 2024
